Aerobatic Racing with Spencer Suderman

Aerobatic RacingThe Aerobatic Racing Challenge Series (ARC Series) is an innovative racing exhibition format featuring pilots with high-performance aerobatic aircraft competing against each other on a vertical race course. As a featured Air Show event, pilots race through an aerobatic sequence in a side-by-side dual that challenges each pilot to fly the maneuvers as quickly as possible. The winner is the pilot that successfully completes the entire sequence of maneuvers first!

As similar or different aircraft are pitted against one another, pilots must employ every advantage unique to their specific airplane. They will be forced to rely on superior flight skills and raw aerobatic knowledge to remain ahead of their nearby opponent. Race outcomes will hinge on a pilots use of perfect technique to carve through the sky while quickly completing each maneuver.

And how is this for insane flying? Guinness World Record attempt for longest inverted flat spin by Spencer Suderman. Camera view facing aft of an inverted flat spin after a long climb to 21,000′. Filmed with the Drift HD170 camera.

HD170 Stealth Soaring over the Tetons

Grand Teton gliderA flight with Teton Aviation in their Blanik L23 glider out of Driggs, Idaho. We love the use of the Drift HD170 on the tail of the glider using a Panavise suction-cup mount. Reggae and a Grandiose view! The Grand Teton is the highest mountain in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park, at 13,775 feet (4,199 m), it is the high point of the Teton Range, and the second highest peak in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The mountain is entirely within the Snake River drainage basin, which it feeds by several local creeks and glaciers.

Pitts model 11 Biplane POV on The Flightline TV show

Pitts Bi-PlaneThe Flightline TV show featured air show performer Michael Wiskus and his Pitts model 11 Biplane. You will need to buckle your seat belt for this ride. Like many of the show pilots, Mike’s passion for aviation started when he was very young. Mike’s Dad took him to his first air show at their home town in Iowa at the age of 10. The show made an everlasting impression so deep that at 14, Mike begged for a job at the Mason City Iowa airport washing airplanes and cleaning hangars just to be around airplanes. Later, he traded his work for flying lessons and received his Pilots License on his 17th birthday.

Thirty years later, Mike has accumulated more than 23,000 flight hours and has qualified in more than 30 aircraft. Today, Mike keeps busy by flying for Corporate America as well as keeping a full time air show schedule from April through November.

As you can see from the multiple Drift HD170 Stealth cameras used on his airplane, that our camera is perfect for use in airshows.

Flying Low in a Super Cub Bush Plane

super-cubFlying Low in a Super Cub Bush Plane near Northern Nevada. Shot with a Drift HD170 Stealth action camera. Small and rugged, the Super Cub easily handles impossibly short landing areas and its rugged construction makes it a natural for rough fields hewn with rocks. In terms of performance, the Super Cub seats two people and will cruise between 90 and 100 mph (or 70 to 80 mph with floats or some varieties of tundra tires).
