Longboard Skate Sesh with Drift HD Cameras

Arbor longboard alleganyLongboard Skate Sesh with the Suburban Blend crew who takes to the Allegany streets with Arbor and Sector 9, and Landyachtz Skateboards. This was the last longboard session for the summer. A bunch of Drift HD cameras were attached to heads, boards and monopods. The flat surface mount proved ideal for underneath the longboard and the rotatable lens dialed in a killer shot. The other crucial mount used was a side mounted PedCo ultra clamp for those profile shots.

These skaters ran this lonely road followed by a chase car who also blocked the traffic that might follow or try to pass. Top speeds were only 40mph so this was a mellow cruise. All in all, these guys road their longboards down roughly 30 miles of road that day. And only the urethane was marred.

Suburban Blend 1-1-11 Skateboard Session

Suburban Blend 1-1-11 Session with the Drift HD170. Mikey Berdis, Nick Bettinger, Andy Geary, and Mike Calimeri throw down in slow mo.  This private training facility is for the Suburban Blend Team to hone their skills.  Continual improvements to the skatepark are always being made.  These skaters are always looking for new transitions to skate as well as new tricks to master.

The Drift HD170 was set to Low Light mode.  Dust is always an issue as you can see it on the lens at times.  A special lens cloth is preferred to clean off dust and debris. Adobe Premiere was used to edit, speed was set to 50% and Frame blending was enabled.

Skateboarding with the Drift HD170

Suburban Blend team riders put the Drift HD170 through the motions at Go Skateboarding Day, The Vans Warped Tour, and at their private training facility. Most shots were hand-held as the form factor of the Drift makes it an ideal follow-cam. Not to mention the killer fish-eye lens which is synonymous with skateboard videos.  You have to get as close as comfortably possible when shooting skate action. The Night Mode also worked out great in the dusky indoor ramp environment.

Suburban Blend is located in Jamestown and Ellicottville, NY.  These dudes are the regional snowboard and skateboard kingpins. They can be found at most events with the team to back up their passion.  These are the guys to watch!
