Wakeboard Videos from Drift Innovation - Who Has The Best Wakeboarding Tricks?

Wakeboard Videos are a rarity these days seeing as how most cameras can't go near the water. That statement does not hold true for the Drift Innovation Drift HD Action Camera. The gallery below displays that it is not so difficult to make your very own wakeboard movies. Don't hesitate! Mount the Drift HD to yourself or your board and go crazy on the lake busting out wakeboarding tricks like there is no tomorrow. There is nothing to stop you from creating the most insane wakeboard videos on the planet.

Wake Surfing with the Drift HD Camera

Wake SurfingThe last Wake Surfing session for the season, on Lake Chautauqua in Western New York. We used the Drift HD camera in a number of ways; with a suction-cup mount on the back of the boat and on the nose of a board, with a monopod, and as a helmet cam. A few shots were taken from the safety of the boat with a Lumix G2. But the Drift cameras were taken down into the action on the water. The new back hatch proved a perfect solution for all the dunking and splashing that went on throughout the day.

Thanks to the crew from Suburban Blend for taking us out for the day.

Wake Skate and Wakeboarding POV in 1080p

wakeboarding POVTesting the Drift HD170 Stealth inside the waterproof case and mounted on the wakeboarding handle. We also wanted to test the new waterproof back hatch for the Drift HD. All tests proved successful. It was apparent that in 1080p mode, the Stealth’s field of view was not enough at 127 degrees, so we should have shot in 720p to get the 170 degree field of view. This was because you typically hold the handle so close to your body.

We tested the Drift HD mounted to a ski helmet as that’s all we had available. (They do sell wakeboarding helmets) The POV from that was just what we were looking for, as we caught the pop shove-its and 360 perfectly from the riders point of view.

Lake Chautauqua in NY was nice and calm but the water quality was nasty, as you can see when the camera gets dunked below the surface of the water. Long shots from the boat were shot with a 200mm Lumix camera.

Wakeskating is an adaptation of wakeboarding that employs a similar design of board manufactured from maple or from fibreglass. Unlike wakeboarding, the rider is not bound to the board in any way. Instead, the top surface of the board is covered with griptape, or a soft, high-traction, EVA foam, covering that is kinder to riders in the inevitable crashes and also allows a rider to ride barefoot. Riders usually wear skate shoes while riding to afford themselves extra purchases on the board.
